Das flache MSI Netbook wiegt knapp ein 1kg (mit 6-Zellen Akku vermutlich 1,2 kg) und besitzt einen 10,1″ Bildschirm (1024x600). Als Prozessor ist ein Intel Atom mit 1,66 GHz verbaut. Weiteres: 1 GB Arbeitsspeicher (max 2 GB RAM unterstützt), 250 GB Festplatte, WLAN-n, Bluetooth, extra großes Touchpad…

Richtig interessant wird das U160 durch die lange Akku-Laufzeit, zumindest wenn es mit dem 6-Zellen Akku tatsächlich in die Nähe der von MSI versprochenen 15 Stunden kommt.

Das Netbook kommt mit vorinstalliertem „Windows 7 Starter“, ein UMTS-Modul soll für das U160 lieferbar sein. Das Netbook MSI U160 kommt zur CeBIT (Anfang März) in den Handel; für das Standardmodell dürfte der Preis bei 299 EUR liegen.
